The ins and outs of virtual greyhounds betting

Our virtual greyhounds work much the same way our virtual horses do. Races start every few minutes and you can watch all the simulated action via our online virtual sports portal. The results will also be calculated by our virtual racing algorithm, largely based on each runner’s winning chances.

Just like our virtual horses, all our virtual greyhound races are commentated by a real announcer. The simulations are also backed by the usual track noise, really helping you to get into the vibe. You can also check out the upcoming races, study the form, and get your bets on ahead of time.

Placing your virtual horses bets

If you’re ready to get in on the action, choose the upcoming race you want to get on. You can then scroll down to see the form and odds for each runner.

Here you’ll find the name of each runner, their form over the last 5 races, and their odds. For example, in the above picture, you can see that #1, Ninjo, has placed in its last three races. You’ll also notice that it’s a major long shot, paying +1,720 (or $1,720 for every $100 on) for the win.

If you prefer to back a favourite, #7, Skittles, would be more your speed. At +180, it has easily the shortest odds, paying out $180 for every $100 you have on it. And it’s almost unbackable to show (finish in the top 3), paying $100 for every $714 you have on it.

As you’ve probably spotted, if the odds start with a plus, that’s how much a $100 bet will win you. If it starts with a minus, that’s how much you’ll need to bet to win $100. Obviously, exactly how much you bet is up to you, but these odds should help you work out your payout.

Placing your virtual greyhounds bets

Our virtual greyhounds betting works much the same way. You can check out the names, form, and odds for each runner, and make your selections. There are also a number of more exotic bet options available on each race.

For example, if you’re looking for a little more value, you can put on an Exacta. With this bet, you’ll need to pick the first two places, in order. When you select the exacta option, you’ll see the odds for each combination and can choose the one you want.

To place your bet, you can select the appropriate combination or use the “1st” and “2nd” underneath the runner numbers. For example, if you think the #1 will win and the #2 will finish second, you click those buttons. And, if this is how the race plays out, a modest $100 will win you a massive $23,900!

Alternatively, you could put on an Over/Under. This refers to the winning margin, or the distance between the first and second placed runners.

In the above picture, the winning margin is set as 4.5. If the winning runner finishes at least 4.5 in front of the second place getter, Overs win. If the margin is less than that, Unders win. This means that, if the final distance is 4 or less, you’ll need a $147 Under bet to win $100.

Can’t pick just one potential winner? An Even/Odd bet might be a good option. This allows you to bet on all the runners with either an even or odd number.

In the above example, the even numbered runners are favoured, needing you to bet $204 to win $100. By contrast, the odds are almost at even money, paying out $100 for $103 on.

Tips for winning when betting on virtual horses and greyhounds

Generally speaking, you should approach betting on online virtual sports just like you do betting in person. As part of this, there are a few tricks to maximising your returns while minimising your losses. Specifically, you should:

• Only bet what you can stand to lose: While it might be tempting to throw your entire bankroll behind a single runner, this is very risky. Instead, you should only bet a portion of your balance on each race. This will mean that, if things don’t go your way, you can still get in on the next race.
• Find a strategy that works for you: If you prefer to go big on a win bet, do that. If you like the challenge of landing an exotic, give that a go. There are plenty of bet options available, so why not play the way you want?
